This monsters design closely resembles the costume tropes of a tokusatsu (special effects) sci fi monster of the week. I started drawing this monster from the head down and I don't think I intended this to be the final design. I screwed up the face so initially I was just going to move onto the next page but I said fuck it and I decided to just carry the drawing over. Hence the intense difference between the body and the face. The body kind of reminds me of a human body with it's skin peeled off, revealing the muscle sinews within. I can imagine the monster being slimy and slippery and when it touches a surface it will leave wet red marks behind.
