Sovereign Art Foundation 2021: Sovereign Asian Art Prize Show
There was a fair amount of artwork in this show, and the presentation was interesting. They seemed to have used an abandoned building to exhibit the show, just like every other art show that uses an abandoned building. (I wish someone would offer me an abandoned building to me just to make art...)
For some context, the sculpture above is an interesting pose, but that pose was a pose that was a very humiliating form of punishment directed towards students. It was called like a 'chicken pose'? Considering the interesting posture, in the end it was a very embarrassing pose to hold.
This artist is very familiar with me because I saw his artwork in the Hong Kong Museum of Modern Art. It has a candy like quality to it where the artwork is very colorful and illustrative, but it seems to be limited by mountain formations. The artist states that he was inspired by videogame backgrounds, and the paintings have an imaginative and illustrative quality to it, but it seems like mainstream media is the best promoter for this artist.
