 There are multiple layers to this piece (technically three layers separated by three different colors of red, blue and green). The first layer was the buffet of figures engaged in robotic warfare, and then on top is the '7up' logo along with a border and some text accompanying it. The red text came last. I wanted this piece to look like a piece of layered history, like what you would see in wall graffiti. If I were to build a fake history for how this piece should have formed in the natural habitat of the city jungle, the '7up' logo would most probably come first. I would assume some corporate company would have posted signage of their brand for marketing purposes. Next, the drawing of the robots would have come next as a kind of wall art decorating the façade of the targeted business. The graphic text would come last, as a symbol of anarchy and destruction of the establishment. The act of putting random text over the carefully(?) constructed architecture of form and function, it creates a new sense of identity that restrains the formality of function and depicts a more casual, yet chaotic form.
