Prague Sketchbook - Indy Toons

During my stay in Chicago, underground/indy comics were a trend. The image on the very bottom of this post took some of its influences from the indy comic character designs. I enjoyed the indy comics movement because there was a sense of freedom and it allowed the reader to really interpret the comic in their own way. Unlike a traditional comic the stories don't always follow a tight script nor is there a grand scheme. Some indy comics solely focus on sound effects. Some comics focus purely on aesthetics. There are though, certain styles of character designs that do commonly appear amongst the indy scene, but they cannot be blamed because the whole world of art is based on taking from the best and making their own interpretation of the design. This is especially common in the world of cartooning.
