Sketchbook 2022 Page 12

This sketch was a response to an image that I found on Pinterest (posted down below). I thought it was an interesting topic relating to the absurdly graphic mess of marketing flyers. I wouldn't say that the flyer down below is visually appealing, but the extreme kitsch that it is representing and the combining fact that it actually has a purpose to it's existence creates an interesting platform for creativity. I'm assuming that the creator of this flyer probably had to spend a day or two creating one of these things, and I assure you that it is quite a significant amount of work ranging from the layering, trimming images, color correcting, typography etc. You are also probably working for a client, so either you are tight on time, or they are constantly asking you to make edits. Even with all of that hard work the product that you create is probably not going to be visually appealing, but it's probably going to grab your attention for a purpose. I'm not sure how serious the flyer down below is because at least half of the products are priced at 1 JPY, and that converts to around 0.0087 USD as of today. It seems like the creator is poking fun at the absurdity of these types of advertisements, or the actual owner of this store has decided that capitalism is not longer working for him, and he wants the local aunties to fight to their death in their attempt to pick up the sale items.
